19th September 2010 - Chun Ma Inter-Club Competition

The Chun Ma inter-club competition will take place on Sunday 19th September 2010 at:

Armthorpe Community Centre, Church Street, Armthorpe, Doncaster, DN3 3AN.

It will feature Mudo events (patterns, 1 & 3-step sparring, self-defence, flying side kick) along with one-on-one sparring and team events.

The doors open from 9:00am and the first competition event will start at 09:30am.

Events & Categories

Individual Pattern

Competitor will perform 1 traditional pattern of their own choice. This can be either Pal Jung Do or Taegeuk, Koryo etc.
In the event of a tie in a medal position the competitor may be asked to perform again.

U 10 Kup Grades (Cadet) 11 - 17 Kup Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Kup Grades (Snr)
Up to 17 Dan Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Dan Grades (Snr)  

1 or 3-step Sparring

Competitors will perform a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 techniques each. Traditional technique only. No take downs, no self-defence and no contact.
In the event of a tie in a medal position the competitors may be asked to perform again.

U 10 Kup Grades (Cadet) 11 - 17 Kup Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Kup Grades (Snr)
Up to 17 Dan Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Dan Grades (Snr)  

Self-Defence

Competitors will perform a self-defence routine for a maximum of 1.5 minutes. Replica weapons may be used but not real ones.
In the event of a tie in a medal position the competitors may be asked to perform again.

U 10 Kup Grades (Cadet) 11 - 17 Kup Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Kup Grades (Snr)
Up to 17 Dan Grades (Jnr) 18 and over Dan Grades (Snr)  

High Jump Kick

Competitors will perform a high jump reverse to a target. The competitor's height is taken from their highest jump to make the score. The person with the highest score wins. The first height will be 10cm above the competitor's own height.

U 16 All Grades 16 and over All Grades

Team Event

Competitors will perform a synchronised traditional pattern and a self-defence display. The marks from both being added to give an overall score. A team must be a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 5 people.

U 18 All Grades 18 and over All Grades

Full Contact Sparring

This will be a 1 to 1 competition with competitors being matched as close as possible. This will be done first with gender, age, weight and grade.

We will not exceed 4 kilos in weight difference except in the case of the heavyweight class.

No contact to the head in a match with 11 years old and under.

There will be two rounds of 2 minutes for 12 years old and over with a 30 second rest.

There will be two rounds of 1.5 minutes for 11 years old and under with a 30 second rest.

One point will be awarded for each scoring techinque, regardless whether it is to the head or body.

The referee will stop the match if a competitor received 3 standing counts of 8 seconds in any one round.

In the event of a tie after the two rounds, a 3rd sudden death round will take place. The first person to score will win. If there is no score after the end of sudden death the referee will decide the winner.

Entry forms must be returned along with the entry fee by Sunday 5th September.

7th August 2010 - Kyo Hoon Poomse Competition

On Saturday 7th August 2010, Kyo Hoon Taekwondo will be hosting a poomse competition where there will be individual, paired and team events for traditional and creative patterns. The competition will be at:

Trinity Fir Vale Methodist Church, Firth Park Road, Sheffield, S5 6WP.

The competition will run from 11:00am to 5:00pm.
